Minutes of the 12/05/07 meeting of the North Texas Chapter of the SWCS

The meeting was opened by President Emil Horvath at 2:06 pm.

Attendance: Romy Myszka, Morris Lobrecht, Cheryl Simmons, David Buland, Emil Horvath, and Steve Brady.

The minutes of the last meeting were read by Steve and approved.
The treasurer's report was read by David and approved.

Old Business:

The Carter Steers' Scholarship was discussed. Cheryl moved, Emil seconded to continue the scholarship at an amended level of $1000 for an indefinite period of time. Approved. Incoming President Simmons will appoint a scholarship committee to evaluate and recommend how to get the information out.

Morris suggested we send an e-mail message to the membership reminding them of our web site.

David moved, Morris seconded, treasurer to take $5000 out of checking account and buy a 6 month CD with it. Approved.

New Business:

Election of officers for 2008. The candidates were:
     Cheryl Simmons - President
     Kristie Mckinley - president-elect
     David Buland - treasurer
     Steve Brady - Secretary

David moved, Emil seconded to accept the slate of candidates by acclamation.
Approved. Emil turned the meeting over to incoming President Simmons.

Cheryl thanked Emil for his leadership and service to the organization.

Cheryl asked Morris to report on recruiting opportunities for greater membership.

Romy motioned for adjournment, seconded by Morris. The meeting was adjourned at 2:51 pm.
